Oral Pathology Treatment in Sugar Land, TX
Oral and Maxillofacial pathology refers to any disease or infection that can develop inside the mouth, teeth, salivary glands, or jaws or face.
While many oral pathologies are infectious or benign (non-cancerous), it is always best to obtain early evaluation and proper treatment of any oral irregularities to avoid severe complications or the need for a more extensive surgical procedure.
The most common pathologies treated by Dr. Johnson are dental infections, benign and skin cancer lesions of the face, and oral cysts and tumors. A dental infection may be a small abscess or become a life threatening emergency with symptoms of: inability to open, and difficulty swallowing and or breathing.
Lesions of the face can be either benign or cancerous. It is important to be evaluated and possibly have any suspicious lesion biopsied before they grow and you risk complicated surgical management. Oral cysts and tumors are usually destructive benign lesions that grows in the bone within the jaw. Treatment of these lesions can be very complex if they are allowed to grow untreated.
